D40 18-55mm - good for action shots?

Does anyone have any examples of action shots with the D40 and the lense you get with it? I am toying with the idea of getting this and taking the pludge into the world of SLR camera's. As the camera is a bit more then i was going to spend i wouldn't be able to buy another lense for a good while. But i really want to get some action shots to get painting . . .

So would it be anygood?

What kind of action shots were you thinking of? I'm not sure I took any tbh!

There are some lovely pictures there! The kind of action shots i want are of my Lucher running flat out and my Brother in laws whippets running.
