Rent a Nikon D3 or D700?

I know you can rent lenses, but does anyone have any experience of renting a camera body for a week or so and could recommend a company?

I am considering a D3 or D700. I have a lot of lenses now (more than my signature embaressingly) which perform well on dx/aps-c format. Some i have bought ready for a change over having acquired them over a year or so. However I can't afford some of the best and you can get away with that on a Dx format as it doesn't use all the glass.

Anyway, what i would like to do is rent a D3 or D700 for a month and test all the lenses I can use and see what sort of results i would get and what range they give me. I can afford the body, but can't afford to replace lenses that may not be good enough. Of course i don't want to change and find a reduction in quality.

So, anyway, anyone used any companies for body hire?

I do believe Calumet are pretty good on price for hiring bodies, haven't hired bodies, I borrow off others, but have done with lenses, to try before I buy.

Re: Rent a Nikon D3 or D700?

Thanks guys,, we have a contract with Calumet at work in our 'imaging ' section (a subsection of my area of work but not my speciality). I forgot all about them! I know one or two people with D3's etc. but none are in a position to let me borrow for such a longish period and i don't have insurance cover for their equipment should something happen.

I haven't either, but I think Dan was also considering similar 'lease to buy' - could that be an option for you too?

I think you should go for it! I would be very interested to see your results with a full frame camera
