Re: Lease to buy?

Do you know any places that do it Dan?

How about getting interest free credit? Sometimes some credit cards give you 10 months interest free - could that be an option?

Re: Lease to buy?

I couldn't see any lease>buy info on their site... how much does it work out? I'd have thought it would quickly end up costing more?

Re: Lease to buy?

So...

D300s and 35mm lens - buy it price £1299

1ST MONTHLY RENTAL £95.05
35 MONTHLY RENTALS £45.05 x 35 = £1621.80
Total cost = £1716.85

Total interest paid = £417.85, or £139 a year

Would they give you 'new' gear to begin with? If so I guess it's worth considering even tho it seems like you're giving hundreds away :-/

Do you have any other options? Like 10-months interest free credit? Anything saved up to perhaps go for 'cheaper' gear?

Re: Lease to buy?

It is brand new gear, and you can pay it off as soon as you can, meaning the quicker its paid the less interest incurred.

Re: Lease to buy?

Ah that's quite interesting then - so you just pay off the balance? Or do they calculate an interest based repayment?

Wonder if they would allow the other way - you pay off as much as you can upfront, and lease the last part, potentially saving you on interest...

Re: Lease to buy?

Looks like a good idea Dan but it depends on the interest, have you got some of the money saved up for it already? Interest can be a killer,I did the same thing for my one of my guitars years ago, but the interest was unbelievable.

I did something similar with my new lens Nikon 24- 70mm, rented it ,loved it so much I then bought it,it's 3 months old,and like new.

/off-topic/
You kept that quiet Moonie! What are the photos like!?

I am considering forgetting the compact idea and just getting a new DSLR.. maybe it wasn't the size - just boredom that stopped me taking it out! Been waiting so long for a D400 now that I may just get an in between model D90, or even consider one of the canons
