Bertie and birds

Bertie and birds in the garden don't mix very well especially at this time of the year.

Bertie

A couple of the birds.

Thrush is not a particularly good shot.

Re: Bertie and birds

Bertie (he's a stunner by the way) does what Bertie does if he's anything like my cats LOL

That said my main two bird culprits passed away last year so thankfully it's not quite so bad these days.

Love the Bertie shot.

As for the birds - noise aside the thrush looks like there's some camera shake going on but the blackbird is sharper and a lovely brash pose too.

Re: Bertie and birds

You are probably correct about the Thrush Phil, it was taken hand held with the teleconverter lens on. I cropped the bid shots with the lastest photoshop beta programme, I'm not sure if I don't like it or don't know how to use it properly.

I had been using a free version of Helicon which I quite liked.

On reflection I wish I hadn't put the blackbird and thrush in.

Re: Bertie and birds

If in doubt - post them up

I'm not familiar with that bit of software but somebody else might be.

What teleconverter are you using ?

Re: Bertie and birds

The shot of Bertie was taken using the lens as well and I did not need to crop that at all.

I was going to see how you'd set up with regards to aperture / ISO / shutter speed etc and if the teleconverter affected autofocus on the body at all but I'm honestly not clued up with this model.

Re: Bertie and birds

Really appreciate your constructive criticism Phil. I know my camera is not the best by a country mile, but I've only just got into photography and I am not prepared to spend a more substantial sum if it is something I don't stick with or really get into.

I also have a wife to convince.

Re: Bertie and birds

Camera should be fine Richard, - I did look it up but I don't know enough about it regarding settings etc to offer any constructive help especially with the added teleconverter.

PS

I can't offer much help on convincing a wife either

Re: Bertie and birds

Hi Richard,

Bertie is indeed a stunning looking cat and with those wonderful eyes I think he probably hypnotises his prey

We have cats but we are very careful and picky when they go out this time of year, we tend not to leave them out for to long either.

A DSLR beckons Richard
