NIK Silver Effects Pro 2 Test

I'm new to B&W conversion Plug-ins for Photoshop. This is my first use of Silver Effects Pro 2 on one of my favorite photos. I like the way the plug-in just gives you over 25 different variations to choose from along with sliders to modify the one you like the best. It will add some interesting variations of my past and future captures.

Re: NIK Silver Effects Pro 2 Test

very nice. i love nik's software and use it quite often. having said that, i do my b&w conversions in lightroom. just up the white balance until everything is sickeningly yellow, then use the saturation slider to desaturate the image. works almost everytime.

Bob............. lovely conversion.
I haven't done B&W since film days in the darkroom. I was watching Scott Kelby's "The Grid" video this week and his praise of Silver Effects Pro 2 was so convincing I thought I'd give it a go. It's amazing how easy it is to use as well as the many variations you get. I narrowed it down to 5 before singling this final choice. That's the way I like to work.

I also own Nik Software's Vivesa 2 and swear by its power. It allows the most exacting editing when you don't want to play the Layers/Masks game in Photoshop. Plug-ins are the biggest time savers ever. I have the entire OnOne Photo Suite for the rest of my workflow.

Re: NIK Silver Effects Pro 2 Test

Bob, that second shot is absolutely awesome, I'm not to keen on the first B&W PP it looks a little soft on my screen.

Like the second shot and processing, agree with Ken about the first.

Re: NIK Silver Effects Pro 2 Test

I agree with you both, the first shot came out soft for some reason. The color version doesn't appear that soft. Thanks for your opinions and comments. I too really like that second photo.
