Thanks Azz, that was the aim. I dont like the "in yer face!" hdr effect

Ok now I show my ignorance. What is the difference between HDR and the bracketing feature on the Nikon D200? I suspect it is more or less the same.

Advice please.

Ok a true HDR requires 3 or more exposures +/- 2 stops each way. These are then merged and mapped using a special software. This is where the brecketing feature comes in - as the camera auto set the exposure values.

The othere, which is what Sgt has done, is fake HDR. This is an image that has been shot in RAW and the exposure values changed +/- from the same file and merged.

yup, pseudo hdr as above is created from 1 RAW file...

However, photomatix seems to do this on me even when I supply it with 3 RAW files

:shrug:
