Re: Las Vegas trip 2010 (lots of pics and lots of words!)

We must have very similar eyes, as you've pretty much posted up exactly the shots that I took when I was there in July.

I have to disagree with you on Penn & Teller though...I thought their act was very very tired, and I'd seen most of the tricks they performed way back in the early 90's when they first appeared on UK TV.

I would totally recommend going to the Miragé to see "Love" though, if you haven't already done so. It will totally blow you away.

And I agree about the Grand Canyon too, although you can't take your camera onto the Skywalk should you go there

MD

Re: Las Vegas trip 2010 (lots of pics and lots of words!)

Some more

We didn't really do much yesterday (9th) more looking around and planning our Grand Canyon trip which we are now hoping to do next Tuesday as our last full day here and one of the last things we do before flying home.

After housekeeping came in i took the chance to take some shots of our room (how touristy i know!)!

Our room is huge!! We have 2 bathrooms a king size bed and a huge living room, 3 flat screens (1 mini one in the main bathroom, a medium one in the bedroom and a huge one in the living room!)
Our bedroom:

Our bathroom:

Our living room:

We also went down to Mandalay Bay to do the Shark Reef Aquarium which was fun, i wanted to stroke the rays in there but i have a thing about touching fish and couldn't quite be brave enough to do it
Mr Crocodile:

Shark (sorry can't remember which one):

My favourite fish, The Lion Fish:

We also visited Luxor and Excalibur, and went to see Tournament of Kings (no photos allowed in there ). I didn't get any photos of Luxor or Excalibur, nothing really grabbed me to be honest and not my type of hotel/casino, also full of kids, and more aimed at them. Excalibur sends a bit of a mixed message though as it is very kid orientated, but has Strip Poker tournaments and Strippers on the tables!

We are going up to Stratosphere today, and working our way back down the strip. I wonder how many miles we have walked so far??

Fab room, loving it, what a view, you aren't going to want to leave.

Interesting you mentioned kids, as this is what puts me off Vegas, what do I do with the kids? Do you think it's a place for kids? I would love to go, but not sure about going with the kids.
If you can, go back to stroke the Rays, they feel like sandpaper, and tickle, they won't hurt you, but it is amazing to be able to touch them. Love the Lionfish pic, and the croc's eye is superb.

Glad you are both having a fantastic time, and don't go getting married by Elvis while you are there, your Mum will kill you xxx

Re: Las Vegas trip 2010 (lots of pics and lots of words!)

James and I are now home and i have had chance to finish off going through the rest of our photos.

Friday 10th was another day of lots of walking. We went up to the Venetian and Pallazo where Madame Tussauds is.
Me and Johnny Depp

James and Shaquille O'neal

Evel Knievel

St Marks Square in the Venetian. They had entertainers on every hour.

You can also take a gondola ride, James and I didn't do this though, not our type of thing

We then walked back through the Fashion Show Mall, and passed Treasure Island and The Mirage. The Mirage has a dolphin exhibit where you can be a trainer for the day. When James and I go back we are going to sign up for this well in advance as you get 5 hours with the dolphins learning about them and swimming with them. They didn't do shows and tricks like the sea life parks, although you can see them do some tricks when they are playing. They also have the "Secret Garden" where they keep tigers and lions and they have 2 white bengal tiger cubs too at the moment in a play pen. We got there a bit late though and they were falling asleep.

Walking passed the "Wynn":

Tiger Cubs:

White Lions:

On Saturday 11th, it was our friends birthday and also the 2nd anniversary of Lupo's "freedom day" so we put a dollar in the machine for them and one over $50!! Couldn't believe it!! I had something special in mind for the day though and headed over to Club Tattoo on Miracle Mile. I have had a design in my head for a long time but couldn't get it on paper. I had a chat with Walter "sausage" Frank and he drew something out and it was perfect. Here is the result...

James had one done on Monday for our special boy too (this was James' first tattoo):

Re: Las Vegas trip 2010 (lots of pics and lots of words!)

Tuesday 14th September

This was probably the best day of our holiday. We were collected from our hotel at about 3.30 and taken to McCarren Airport to board a helicopter that took us over the Valley of Fire, and into the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. We had a light snack and champagne before flying back over Hoover Dam and over the Las Vegas Strip at Sunset. Our pilot, Eric, was amazing and really made me feel comfortable on my first helicopter ride. The annoying thing was i left my ND Grad filters in England so they have not come out as good as i was hoping, but even if i had them, pictures just cannot do justice the completely mesmerising scenery and scale of it all!

Leaving Las Vegas:

Valley of Fire:

Lake Mead (well one small bit of it!):

Entrance to the canyon west rim:

Preparing to land in the canyon:

Taking off through the canyon, our pilot pulled some tight turns! weeeeee:

Sunset over Arizona:

Hoover Dam (sorry OOF Getting too dark for my camera to really get focus and we were moving quite fast)

James and our pilot:

And finally... Las Vegas at night:

Freemont Street, LV:

Stratosphere:

Rio:

Excalabur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay:

Wednesday 15th September

We flew home at 4.30pm but was still a good day... I braved it up and finally played my first proper game of black jack, i started with $100 of chips and walked away with over $200!! woohoo must be beginners luck, but it did pay towards an upgrade on our plane tickets
