Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

I just loaded up Elements 6.
Something I do a lot of in PS6 is overdo something then adjust it with the fade option under Edit.
For instance I might use the blur tool, blur over something then go to Edit and 'fade blur' and fiddle the slider until its just right. I can do that with pretty much any tool or action.
Is there a function like this on Elements that I just can't see?

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

Maybe try to get a second hand copy of CS2 or 3 now that 4 is out?

I've got CS2 to try.
Such a shame as I like everything else about Elements.

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

What is the difference between elements and ordinary PS and CS? :/ I never knew... I'm on PS7 which does most of what I want... what would be the things that are better/worth upgrading for with the others?

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

I have been using PS6 until tonight.
Now I am trying out Elements 6 and it seems a lot more user friendly with more options and control.
There are also lots of presets and actions you can download from various places which will work in elements and the CS versions.
If I could only work out how to fade things I'd be thrilled with it!

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

When using the brush tool, you will see a brush to the right of 'opacity percentage' and the 'airbrush', left click on it and another menu will appear fade being one of the choices.

Hope this helps

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

Brilliant! I'm on the wrong computer right now, but I'll try that tomorrow.
Does that work for all tools?
How about actions? In PS6 I often do something like auto adjust the contrast then use the fade option to tweak it to exactly where I like it.

Re: Can I fade an effect in PS Elements?

First, make sure that you have clicked on Full in the edit options on the right. Next, if you click on 'Layer' and then go to 'New Adjustment Layer', you will see a list, click on the one you want, in your case Brightness/Contrast click ok in the box that opens and then the slider controls which will be similar to what you have used in PS6 for adjusting the brightness and contrast will open.

Same things applies for adjusting the levels manually, as you would in any PS Edition.
