They're generally used for macro photography as far as I know. I think Steve bought one a few weeks back so hopefully he'll see this and comment

Re: Ring Flash?

Hi

I bought something similar to a ring flash. I bought a "twin lite"

whereas a ring flash is like this

They both do a similar job and are mainly used for macro photography. The ring flash can also be used in portrait photography giving a rather nice circular highlight in the subject's eyes.

Both fit on to the end of the lens and give a shadowless close up image.

Re: Ring Flash?

If you're working close up it also stops you getting the shadow of the lens over the subject.

Re: Ring Flash?

Steve, the twin lite is top of my wish list - if I could just find a supplier with stock in this country! Have you found the flash worth the price? I'm looking at the Twinflash MT-24 EX

Re: Ring Flash?

The MT-24 EX is the one I bought. It's an excellent bit of kit and, despite it's high price in this country, well worth the expenditure.

Hope you find one soon.
