A few from our afternoon walk.

I decided to take my new P&S out this afternoon on a walk with Star to test it out while having a dog attached to me We ended up at the Southern Necropolis.

The White Lady has had all the trees cut down from around her just leaving a nest on her head

White Lady statue: This is the burial place of 3 people, John S Smith, carpet manufacturer, his wife Magdalene and their housekeeper Mary McNaughton. The story goes (as taken from Our Glasgow Story - The Gorbals White Lady by happy reaper (Colin Mackie) ) that on 29 October 1933, while returning to their home at Langside Avenue from church and sheltering from the heavy rain behind an umbrella, they walked into the path of a tramcar on Queen's Drive. Both were taken to the nearby Victoria Infirmary. But sadly Magdalene died on arrival and Mrs McNaughton passed away two weeks later. The monument is a solemn and fitting memorial to the tragedy. Local legend tells how the White Lady turns her head as you pass by, and should she catch your eye, you will be turned to stone.

And a few others from the necropolis

Definitely not as good as my canon but ideal for those quick snap shots on the run and being waterproof good for dogs and kids.

Re: A few from our afternoon walk.

Not bad for a P&S. Sad story about those people too - thank you for sharing that it's a lovely looking monument, odd with the birds nest though!

Re: A few from our afternoon walk.

They're pretty good.

I love my compact camera and with a bit of PP it stands up pretty well to the DSLR when conditions are 'easy'.
