Tamron or Sigma

Do people have a preference - is one better than the other?

I am looking at a new lens and price wise they are very similar (about £5 in it) but wondered if anyone had any +ves or -ves?

Re: Tamron or Sigma

Which lens is it Tassle? Both brands are very good imo - it's just that sometimes one of their lenses has a better rep than the others

Re: Tamron or Sigma

Tamron 28-300MM LENS (Sony / Minolta) F3.5-6.3 XR Di AF Lens Or
Sigma 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 DG MACRO Lens

I would really like the f/2.8 ones....but my budget does not really extend that far!

I have a Minolta 70-210 f/4.5-5.6....but I think this will be going with the a350.

Re: Tamron or Sigma

As the others have said, depends on the lens. Not had experience of either lens you mention - but I prefer my Sigma lens to my Tamron one (not that they're comparable! )

Re: Tamron or Sigma

I've not seen either of those Tassle. I would however go on pbase.com and find pics taken with those lens and see which ones you prefer. Sometimes a lens will have a certain feel about it

I doubt you'll go wrong with either tbh!

Re: Tamron or Sigma

I've had a go with the Sigma one before, and thought it was great value for money, and got some pretty good shots as well. Don't know if that helps at all!

I got the Sigma one....

Well - have not yet had a chance to get it out and about - but it happened to have the cheapest delivery option.

I set the camera up last night - then my computer desk collapsed....

So (moving the camera quickly - TV and computer are nothing compared to Camera - with lens attached!!) I had to spend 3 hours last night gluing back to gether - going through all my paperwork and wires (which probably took more time!) and didn;t get a chance to play - however - weather is nicer today .............
