Scottish Deer centre family day out

Took my mother, father, niece and nephew to the Scottish Deer centre in Couper, Fife to see the Wolves and other animals they have there. Not a great place for photography except if you want to take images of the Deer. The highland wildlife park is miles ahead of this place especially for imaging Wolves and other wildlife. The Wolves here looked very small and not in great shape compared with the european greys at the Highland wildlife park, even though they were supposed to be the same spieces of Wolf. One of the Wolves looked as if it had an eye missing as well.

For anyone interested, Edinburgh Zoo now has three Wolves since May this year (I only found out after visiting the Deer centre) So, I will be visiting there very soon. They are the same Wolves from the Highland wildlife park which Edinburgh Zoo owns. You can see them in this thread I posted in January http://www.yophotographer.com/page.p...ghlight=wolves

Here are a few pics I took at the Deer centre

Hi Phil. I was on the A91 passing through Auchtermuchty to the Bow of Fife, where the Deer centre is located. I'll be back up that way sometime in the future as I want to visit Falkland palace and other places nearby.

When you're at Falkland you could pop to Fife Falconry at Wester Glasslie. Just up the road out of Falkland as if your heading over the hill to Leslie. I've never been but I keep meaning to check it out. There web site is playing up but it does say..........we've got 45 birds including owl's, hawks, falcons, and Eagles and not forgetting "Vomit" our resident Hooded Vulture.

Re: Scottish Deer centre family day out

Hi Dejavu,

I know how hard it can be to get anything worth keeping here due to the thick, green fence around these two Wolves so well done on ending up with a very natural looking set of pics.

The whiteish Wolf is indeed from North America and the smaller one with the damage to it's eye is European, there was not too long ago four Wolves in the enclosure but one was killed and the other ended up at the Highland Wildlife park for breeding purposes.

Oh and the Wolves look small due to having lost their thick winter coats.

Oops actually the Wolf with the damaged eye was the one killed earlier this year leaving the white wolf and a European one with a damaged left ear.
