One for the mums and dads on here

Am I allowed to link to photographers websites?
If I am not feel free to remove this.

Someone just posted this slideshow on a parenting forum I belong to.
It is of a woman's labour and birth but its not graphic (just the odd boob here and there).
It is so moving and the photos are amazing I just had to share. It actually moved me to tears.

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

Some lovely images, and I loved the inclusion of the clock throughout. I wouldn't say it's hugely my cup of tea - I'm really not that bothered for kids and I don't have any of my own, so maybe that's why I don't find it especially moving? But I do think it's a bit good - so thanks for sharing!

I would have been the same 9 years ago but having given birth 4 times (the last one at home) it brings all the emotion flooding back.

...sniffle....sniffle, yep, me too....Not! Ya! You big load of softies!

Bloomin' ironic that it takes longer to watch this sequence than the 30 seconds of pleasure in the first instance!

No, ok, in honesty, it was a great bit of photography...not sure if he or she was being paid by the hour, but great little sequence and lovely black and white....oh, and you don't have to be a mum or dad, that's being prejudice! Does remind me that I have missed out on this part of my life though...although i'll try and remember that when I get my D700, 'I can have you because i'm not paying for a school uniform...'

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

Awesome! there is another set I know of that the actual Pro photographer is the mother, so she took the shots from her perspective, while giving birth!can't give the link as it is on another photography forum, but they are magical too.

Really captures the emotion of the birth though, especially a Home Birth, Tia was a hospital, horrible experience TBH, Luke at home, just fantastic

These have made me very broody now, bugger!

Nice shots in that LM - wonder if the two kids will grow up wanting to be docs, or whether it has put them off for life

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

Kids are fascinated by things like that - its only adults who get squeamish!

Moonstone, I knew another mum would understand what those photos represent. So much emotion that no one can understand unless they have been there.
Makes me broody too! Hubby says NO NO NO though!

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

I agree about kids not being squeamish, Tia was there when Luke was born but doesn't remember it really as she was too little, but she wasn't fazed, wandered in and out to see me and friends who have had kids present at home or hospital say the same.

I think stupid tv programmes and film where they have the woman screaming and yelling her head off and having hysterics, doesn't really help people get over the fact it is , the most awesome experience, whether your the mother, the father or just a witness, also the most natural one.

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

I didn't mean to come accross as prejudice at all... I was only saying perhaps *I* would have to be a mum to 'get' the emotional side... as for me, it's not something I get emotional about really... not in the sense that it would make me cry, or become broody. I wasn't saying you have to be a parent to get it...
Hope I've not offended anyone? :/

Re: One for the mums and dads on here

Thats what I loved about the slideshow. It was so calm and dignified.

Have to say my hospital births were screamy and hysterical. My accidental, suprise homebirth with no one there but me and hubby was the calm one!
