View at the bottom of my garden - Coll Drain

Weather rather stormy but made my way to the bottom of the garden to see if it was anything more interesting than the view at the front of my home, the answer is not a lot but any technical improvements I could make I would be pleased to receive. I do now understand that the aperture was too fast and what I gained in light I lost in dof.

K20D, 12-24mm at 12mm, f4, ISO 200 the shutter speed was fast at 1/2000 - no filters, natural light, light PP, sharpen and frame

As already said, I love this, it is dramatic, love the lines of the drain, and the sky adds drama, personally, I love the sky as it is, very moody

Look forward to more xx

Thank you folks for your kind and unexpected encouragement, does the heart good.

Encouraged by Moonie I have tried mono, and I am not that good at this either so help is requested, thanks.

Re: View at the bottom of my garden - Coll Drain

Ooooo love them both, told you they would work! xxx

I do my Mono conversion in Lightroom, as I like to fiddle with the blacks and contrast, clarity etc.I have a preset I've called Moody B&W which I love to use on landscapes . I think converting to Mono, is trial and error until you find a formula that you are happy with. Also , some things scream Mono conversion, and then other things lose their oomph!

I love the warmth of the sky in the copper/brown tint one.

Do you like them though?

Re: View at the bottom of my garden - Coll Drain

Yes I do Suzi, I think because it was more or less mono in the first place, apart from the sky. Don't think I would have liked it in an un-sympathetic colour but these do not offend, prefer the original but like the others as well particularly the brown.

I desaturated first and then just fiddled, have tried the B & W in PS but was not sure what I was doing so finished up going round in circles, not good idea in my condition
