Re: Various bird images

All fab.

They are all so sharp which I like but for me the last one stands out.

Why ?????

Apart from the last one the backgrounds are fairly 'clear' which is what you want as it makes the birds stand out however - IMHO - the last one (as well as the hassle of it moving) has a more 'obvious' background to 'loose' so the use of 'depth of field' really has to work to pull the subject away from the background.

A great example.
Kit 1
Canon 1D Mark 3
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L USM
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Kit 2

The last one is very well framed, I bet you could try again a million times and you wouldn't be able to capture it again..

Thanks Phil, the last Gull pic was just a lucky capture, although I find them easy to photograph ( especially if they think you have food) they usually end up just another Gull pic, but this one turned out better than most of my other Gull pics.

Those smaller birds are a nightmare to capture, I usually only get one click of the shutter then they are off . Hopefully with the quieter shutter of the 40d not to mention the 6.5 fps, they will hang around a little bit longer

Thanks again for your comment, Phil.

Grant.
