Experimenting with desaturating colours

I've been having a go at desaturating colours (something I have never tried before).
I wanted an effect similar to black and white, but a bit less grey I guess.
Does it work or does it look too wishy washy?
(I know my focus / lighting etc is all out, but I'm working on that!)

Ohgosh I love them... I think it works really well. I'm not good with B&W to be honest, so my opinion probably doesn't count for much - but these pics look very vintage mediterranean - and I love them!

Don't know about the colour but love your composition. An 'eye' is something you can't learn and you most certainly have that, the rest you will learn very quickly.

I love the composition, and the removal of the color adds to the mood of the photos. Well done. I wouldn't mind seeing bigger photos.

I like those pics. The desaturation is something I too have been aiming to achieve and it certainly works well on certain subjects but like many things photographic, a lot of people are at it. The pics work well, not sure, but they look a little soft to me but a lot of potential there becuae of the look the kids have and that lovely window light.

I like these a lot, the treatment works very well. I think the softness, whether intentional or not suits and these are shots to be proud of

Yeah soft means a little out of focus.

Yes most of my pictures are rather soft!
Haven't got the hang of having to focus yet!
