Different view of my Lurcher

I was out with the dogs today and just started to snap the dogs as you do, when i was reminded you can get some decent effects throwing the compact snappy camera onto macro and taking a different angle..

These were the best 2.. I love the one of Pharaoh the lurcher.. Though Kismet the Huskamute has a lot of character in her shot...

1. Pharaoh

2. Kismet

Just so she wasn't left out I have included Selkie, but witht he sun behind her, that shot just didn't work at all..

Happy to have critique, there's a lot wrong with them and I have a lot to learn I'm going to have a go at altering them with Photoshop and will add the results tot his thread later

Re: Different view of my Lurcher

These are nice, especially the second. The other two are a little underexposed, probably because the light is falling behind the dogs. Lovely dogs .

Re: Different view of my Lurcher

I love the first one too... there's just something about it isn't there.. I think I'll have a go at fixing it's exposure problem in Photoshop... Any advice? I use photoshop regularly, but generally for more fantasy effects.. Ask me to turn this day to night, or add fairy wings and effects, turn it into an alien landscape or pop art and I'm your gal... but just fix it... hmmm...

I was thinking I would look at image adjustments levels and raise the midtone range, then maybe look at hue and saturation to just bring up the colour.

Re: Different view of my Lurcher

I do like the first one a lot - but there's something rather... horror film about the second! I like both - not so sure on the last one, but a good try!

Lovely dogs!

Re: Different view of my Lurcher

I would not have thought of using the 10-20mm lens but it has worked well. I was able to achieve the result I think you are looking for in PS with a minimal adustment in levels, setting the black, white and gray points in curves, re-setting the exposure level -1 stop and a 50% fix in shadow and highlights with a final smart sharpen. Will post the image if you think it will help.

Re: Different view of my Lurcher

Selective lightening helps the overexposure mentioned. Rule one: don't overdo editing. A little lightening goes a long way.
