Self-portrait

I've noticed not too many attempt self-portraits on YOP - myself included...So I thought I'd have a play with my 50mm and cable release.

I'm still not comfortable photographing myself.

Re: Self-portrait

As per request

Iv already told JR what i do and dont like about the shots but ill pop it on here for ref....

The composition is good in both, although for me, the angle on #1 is a touch o loow for my taste. But, im an eye level kinda girl anyway! They are both well exposed given the limited flexability of the light source but im finding those shadows really harsh (try putting a white cloth/ paper over the light to help diffuse it)

Both pictures would have benefited from a back light to offer a higher degree of seperation from the black background, particullly where the shirt is involved.

Iv also told JR that #2 could have been more intense if he were to look up at the camera

Re: Self-portrait

Good attempt Jack, and not quite what I was expecting, sort of imagined what you would look like but it wasn't that. I think this is a stooge just to throw us off the scent...

Agree with KK. She has pointed out a couple of points I could never have thought of because I know little about portraiture but I can see the bit about the shirt.

Re: Self-portrait

I actually like no.2 and the way that you aren't looking at the camera. First one I don't like actually because of knowing you, you're eyes look sad in it and don't reflect your character!
