New camera

I have had a few Pm's about my siggie, so to confirm I am, now a D300 owner, BIG adjustment from my lil Oly, in size and handling, but getting easier each time I use it.

Very much fiddling with settings and stuff at the moment, but getting there so will post something soon

So, yep I am now a Nikon Girl

Re: New camera

Suzi

You have made a wonderful choice, I just love mine. You might find these links helpful. The first allows you to add portrait and landscape as well as a couple of other colour settings

http://nikonimglib.com/opc/ The bottom of this link tells you how to install. I have only added landscape and portrait to mine.

This next link is a training video from Nikon on your camera

http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d300/index.shtml. This gives some insight as to the cameras capabilities when playing the movies.

What I have done is set the camera to use the battery in the grip first then the one in the camera. Why? well using rechargable AA batteries allows the frame shooting rate to be 7 frames per second. The alteration can be found in D11 in the menu to make the swap, then by looking in Setup menu Battery Info it shows which you are using at the time

Re: New camera

Thanks guys Xx

I will check those links out Bazza , thank you. xx

Bought a DVD Manual today, which is brilliant! The actual Nikon one, isn't too bad, not too mumbo jumbo, so getting through that too
Just got to adapt to using a Nikon! but do find the ergonomics good, and the placements of the buttons make sense. Keep going to hit a button that isn't there when I have a muddled up with my Olympus moment, but it is getting easier now

I am very pleased with my choice, just all very new and different

Re: New camera

Suzi
I have added a bit on the end to my posting about which battery you can use first and why and how to set up.
I can just see you with that camera + SB900 flashgun and a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens walking around in a stoop due to the weight
