Shrewsbury Rowing club

Unfortunate the sun was quite high - but I will go back there when the light is better...

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

I can seey ou had trouble with the lighting - but have controlled it very well - I love the water for a start! And it's a gorgeous building. I think I would have tried to get the lifebuoy out of the shot, as it doesn't add anything for me - and I'd probably clone the dog out too - though some may think that adds to the shot. On the whole though, a very pleasing image.

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

BUT the dog WAS there sniffing about - I actually found that it added life to the image, as did the swans I waited to come into view and the rowers walking up the ramp. It seems you're hard to please.

The lifebuoy was also actually there too - and IMO it adds a sense of depth to the image from front to back

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

I'm sorry JR - it seems that I obviously upset you with every suggestion I make - perhaps if you don't like suggestions you should untick the C&C box, and I'll know not to comment - as it is, I don't think I'll bother any more since it so obviously offends you. If you like the picture, why put it in 'Showcase and Opinions'? It's obviously going to get critique!!!!

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

Z, I'm NOT offended in the slightest - I readily accept C&C with gratitude - but I'm looking for technical critique, not just simply your choice of what you'd like in or out of the picture.

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

Well, for me the life bouy is 'technical' critique - it may not be in regards to lighting/exposure etc- but it is a compositional problem IMHO. I think that with it being OOF, it's very distracting.

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

It's not OOF - are you looking at it full size?

I'm not asking you to like the image but I deliberately composed the picture with the lifebuoy in it (whether you think it's in or OOF - the same applies to the dog/swans/people) to enhance composition. We are simply back to your 'personal' choice which is subjective, thus I wont debate it.

Re: Shrewsbury Rowing club

Yes I am looking at it full size - and it's fair enough - but in the end, surely, *all* C&C is someone's personal opinion?

If you are happy with it, that's fair enough too - but I'm afraid I critique things where I see neccessary, and I don't think that saying that it's just my personal opinion is very fair, since that's all C&C ever is, unless there's a glaring error that obviously spoils a shot.
