Re: portrait c/c please

great colour Jols but the background, the lower part, is distracting. I know you like the outdoor, natural backgrounds and the sky looks good, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the lower part of the background! But the colours are really nice. did you use a filter, and did you use a flash to fill in?

Re: portrait c/c please

Hi Jols, you know I like your style of portrait, and this is a good one, the sky is great but the area at the bottom of the shot does nothing to improve it, I know you will not remove it in PP so you have to be even more carefully when taking the shot to check the background.

Your Son's image has been well captured, good light, no over blown or shadowed areas. The hard hat does not worry me it is part of your style of taking it as it is. For me to take shots of children in their natural habitat is the way to go, the school "scrubbed and sit straight and smile style" is boring and makes all look alike, so don't change the style, please.

Of all the shots of children I have seen I particularly remember one of yours with a child in the park climbing on something and one of Moonstone's of her son in their living room (another not helped by the background) my point being they are the shots you remember because they look so right in the natural pose.

To summarise a well taken portrait, no real problems at all just watch what else is in the shots you take and try to avoid the distracting.

Re: portrait c/c please

I really like it, and once again JAckie has said what I think, but better than I could! I think it's a great shot, though I would have perhaps liked it to have been not quite so close, and with just the sky for background.
