A few pics from Longleat & Salisbury Cathedral

A few random pics (out of about 700!) taken between 1st May and 5th May.
I absolutely adore staying at Longleat (where else can you be awoken by the roar of Lions?!!) we are going back later in the year armed with a decent tripod and a couple of new lenses.

Re: A few pics from Longleat & Salisbury Cathedral

They are a cracking set of shots and perhaps the only things that tell me you are truly a beginner is the placement of your main subject in the centre of your shots - there is a mini tutorial on the Forum called "Rule of thirds" here http://http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=85 and this http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=3932 may also be of help.

The only other thing that gives away the fact that you are new to this is that you have done no PP to your shots refreshing but a few could do with a little.

Well done.

PS I would enter your second shot into this months competitions "Reflections"

Re: A few pics from Longleat & Salisbury Cathedral

Thanks Snapper for your comments. I am pleased with the shots, although, I know I've got loads to learn - that's why I'm here I can, to a certain extent, critique my own pcitures from being on YOP just for a few days already

Thinking about it, perhaps I should have put these up for comments..???
I, initially, wanted to show some of the pictures I like but if I don't get comments then I'm not really going to learn that much am I?

What is PP?, I guess it is a photo editing programme? I wouldn't have a clue where to start with anything like that! Perhaps that is something that I will need to look into if I'm to learn how to really get the best from my shots.

Re: A few pics from Longleat & Salisbury Cathedral

PP as far as I am concerned is post processing, that is work done on the shot after it is out of the camera.

Yes, you will need an editor of some kind if you are serious about your photo hobby - I would suggest Elements, because it will catalogue your shots so you can find them and give you an incite into photo editing. Almost everything you will need in the way of editing tools are within the Elements editing and it is easier to learn than the full blown Photoshop programmes.

To start with you will find trial copies of editing programmes on magazines from time to time along with tutorials.
