A cat portrait, yay or nay?

After Snappers thread of her blossom and butterfly pic, some like it, some love it, some not sure.....

I took some High Key portraits of my cat, two of which I love and then the third one, well, I really love it, but I know it is slightly OOF, but it seems to work, there is something about her pose , the light etc.

If it wasn't out of focus (and slightly blown on the left) it'd been a cracker Moon!

Ah it's supposed to be blown, I have been exploring High Key, and wanted the whites to blow out a bit see what I mean, I love it just as it is, isn't it weird

You will hate the others then

Re: A cat portrait, yay or nay?

I think that's great Moon and I love the composition / crop you've chosen.

All I might have tried (pp) would be to get a touch of light glinting on that eye.

Just a thought.

I will give it a go Phil, thanks for the suggestion Dogs are easier to photograph, you can't get a cat to pose, they just do as they please and wander off when they have had enough

Re: A cat portrait, yay or nay?

I love the shot but the OOF doesnt work for me Moonie. Beautiful pose and composition, just the focus I have the problem with.

Thank you Dawn, I wasn't going to post it , but thought I'd see if it was me being weird liking it, or if anybody else did
I could of cried, it was the best pose, and I messed up sh eisn't too keen on the camera, she sits on the top of stair rails on the landing, watching the dogs below. I was balanced on the top step next to her.

Re: A cat portrait, yay or nay?

Back on the topic Suzi, I love the composition, understand the blow out although I did not know what it was called, I have a couple of my hounds that I have done the same thing with, will post them some time today on another thread.

Back to you and yours, although I do not mind some of the elements of a shot being OOF I do think that something within the crop should be. for example if this shot was exactly as it is with say a sharp ball and string in front of the cat or even one of PP's butterflies then I think I too would love the shot.

I can fully understand why you like it though and I am happy wit the edit.
