New lens?

I'm saving up for a 35mm f1.8 prime lens for my D40 - is it worth it if I'm hoping to buy the D300 or equivalent in a year or so which would need different lenses? I could do with a wide angle lens for the summer but I'm not sure really. Thanks p.s. I hope this makes sense lol

Re: New lens?

If you're unsure, I would get the Nikon kit lens, it is really good value for money.

Then when you know what focal length you want, get the best you can afford

Re: New lens?

I can't see why the D300 would need different lenses? the 35mm would work fine on it, unless I am totally msising something? Neither camera I am familiar with.

Re: New lens?

I think Polo is thinking about the DX lenses?...... DX will work with the D300 as its a cropped sensor. They are compitable with the D700 and D3 but are but do not take advantage of the full frame and effectivley halve the pixels.

Makes for a good portrait lens
