Monitor calibration

Okey dokey... I am definitely getting the Dell, Azz suggested, so I would like to know what Gizmo you use to calibrate your monitor for your photos.

I obviously want a good one, but not something stupidly expensive, as I really want to try and keep as much money as possible in my Camera Fund, so really don't want to spend more than about £100.

I am looking at this one

Pantone Huey ProMEU113

http://www.amazon.com/Pantone-MEU113...1012855&sr=1-5

I know Color Munki is very highly rated, but really don't want to spend that much

Thanks xx

Re: Monitor calibration

How about the Spyder2express ? Not bad for the price.

But first, wait until you get the monitor, the Dells are usually pretty well set up from what I remb.

Re: Monitor calibration

Ooo that is cheaper, so cheaper is good!

TBH I thought all monitors needed calibrating, if you used them for photos

Re: Monitor calibration

Generally yes, but some of the 'higher end' monitors get decent calibration in the factory thesedays - but yes, always best to do it yourself to be sure. So go for it - you'll not have to worry about it then

Re: Monitor calibration

So the Spyder Gizmo it is then

Right now go and choose me a body , and three lenses, one of which must be a Prime for portraits.

All fast lenses, for low light shooting, ideally one for landscapes, and one general purpose walk about lens.

ETA trying to spend as little as possible

Re: Monitor calibration

Ms

be careful, the cheaper ones only do the monitor, it is worth spending the extra and go for the monkie, it calibrates the printer as well. There is absolutely no point in just calibrating the monitor if when printing the pictures come out a completely different colour. I did research on this exact problem at the Focus on Imaging at the NEC. I looked at all calibrations tools available and the colour monkie came out way above all the others. Infact I think that will be my next purchase.
