Re: Playtime's over

Good title for a challenge. Pic looks very contrasty though, deep black shadows and blown white highlights. If you did a horizontal crop along the end of wall I feel your eyes don't wander off. Just scrol your screen up to take off the top third to see what I mean. Only my opinion of course!

Re: Playtime's over

Gas, like the idea not sure about the execution, I find the strong line across the image a bit unnerving and going nowhere sort of feel. It could be the squareish crop is not helping the subject matter.

Never mind this is item one of the rest of the series so it will be good in say 6 months to look back and see what you have achieved.
Kit 1
Pentax K7

Pentax 12-24mm
Pentax 50mm 1.4

Re: Playtime's over

I think it's a great idea! And I like this photo - I actually like the harsh contrast but I do agree with BC about the crop!

Re: Playtime's over

Thanks for your input. What I was trying to portray with the shot was a harsh reality...the 'bike at one end of a dark line, trapped at the edge of the frame, twisted, tyres flat, on a wet and dismal pavement...unable to move because it is broken, and having nowhere to go even if it could...trying to express the futility of growing up in an inner-city area. I may need to work on it a bit more

Thanks If you found it un-nerving then it had something at least of the effect I was after

The next one is...no less dark, I'm afraid

Re: Playtime's over

Ah, there will be a hiatus, it seems...photoshop Elements 5 has died, and I cannot find the install disk to reinstall it. Both DVD drives have died, and flickr has taken to loading 2 of everything I queue...
I may be away a while, if I can't get this sorted...
