This is why the ban of photographing police should be lifted!

A newspaper seller (who had nothing to do with the demonstrations btw) was hit down by a Police Office, totally unprovoked - and later died of a heart attack: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7988828.stm

Further to a recent law as discussed here: Taking photos of police officers could be considered a crime the news story above shows just one of the reasons why it should not be made illegal to film or photograph policemen.

While there is good and bad in any profession, I think the bad will just get worse if they think they can get away with whatever they want, thinking they can't be filmed or photographed

Ugh. Absolutely despicable. I hope the git loses his job. Or in fact ends up in prison for manslaughter.

Re: This is why the ban of photographing police should be lifted!

From the video snapshot we've seen so far he does look a total innocent who the police should not of been approaching. We don't see what if anything went on beforehand of course.

If it is without provocation then I hope they lock him up for a long time, they can't be allowed to think that they are above the law.

Re: This is why the ban of photographing police should be lifted!

...actually what is happening is that the law is being 'adjusted' so that the police and authorites are always within the law and have increasingly more powers.

Think it was this week all your emails and web sites visited have to be logged by your ISPs.

We must not fotograph them, because by not taking pictures we help to prevent terrorism.

And yet we are becoming filmed and photographed more and more by *the state*...which also, apparently, helps prevent terrorism...so, which is right?
