A really good photo - I love images like this that tell a story. Did you shy out of asking him to look up and taking a snap?

I think that this is a shot that doesn't suffer from no eye contact. Would look to false and posey if he was looking at you. Candid shots are about a moment in another's life, this fulfils that brief very well for me.

Maybe a slight contrast boost to give it a little more punch.

I like it as it is too - just think there was possibility for more shots with that subject (just wanted to make that clear in case I came across as otherwise in my last post).

Came across to me Azz, I was just commenting on this shot

I agree there looks to be loads of character in his face that a good close portrait would bring out very well.
