Couple of close ups - not dogs for a change ;-)

I still struggle a bit to get nice close ups where the main target is focussed and the background soft but managed to get a couple I quite like.

One I edited with a frame and slant [ as I had`nt realised the angle I took the shot at made the buildings behind look like they were falling over ], plus there was a fencing wire running behind the section of plant I wanted to take the photo of so I edited that out, and the other I decided to do a black and white background edit to, hope you like, and as always comments and tips are most welcome, and please feel free to play around with edits

For me there's to much there, but I don't have a clue about photography.

Thank you It`s a narrow strip of wasteland between the paddock and the plant pot business next door, something I took no notice of til hunting for things to photograph when it struck me as having a bit of potential with the run down side of the buildings as a backdrop
I will take more there through the seasons as the foliage changes, it might be interesting, [ to me anyway ], to see how they turn out

Thank you I do like b&w shots generally and really wanted to play around with this one to see how it might look

I think you have hit the nail on the head ! I knew I needed to do `something` but was`nt sure what exactly, perhaps it`s why doing the b&w edit jumped at me in a subliminal way for the second shot so that the main central focus would stand out better against the `busy-ness` behind it as there is`nt much colour definition in the plant yet plus I could`nt get the amount of softness I was trying for in the background , if I had it might have made a difference to the somewhat `cluttered` appearance ?
Does that make sense

I will re-take with my Nikon and perhaps choose a more thinned out section of the plant and/or different angle to see if I can improve on this shots idea, thank you
