my 18-55mm stock lens has developed a nasty error as posted in the err 99 thread.

do I get a refurbished one? if not can anyone recommend a replacement?

How often do you use it - how about a 2nd hand one?

budget is low, second hand is an option. Just my luck. I'm trying to establish my self as a professional photographer. Obviously experience is a major part in this, I just can't help but feel my gear is underparr.

You could sell your Nokia phone to help fund some gear?
Any other stuff you can sell?

Unfortunately while skill has a lot to do with photography, there's only so much you can do with the less expensive cameras, especially from a professionals point of view.

Maybe start off doing some really cheap photo shoots - just to cover the cost of kit upgrades? How many fellow students would be willing to pay £10 for some professional portraits for their myspace pages?

I run a car at uni. It's a luxury I know, but I'd be lost with out it, as regards to my phone. I use the satnav functionality as well. which is always handy!

Having seen some of your local landscape images why don't you look into attending Craft Fayres in the upcoming season. There are plenty around this area (Upton House have a couple through the Spring).

Don't think anyone would make a fortune selling images at these events but it gets your name out there and could generate some cash also. May even pick up a commission.

May be worth investigating.

both very good ideas from Azz & Steve, cheers guys! After an extremely successful project with a non paying client I'm really determined to take things further. It has been such amazing fun I've been so motivated.

I just need to get some small projects under my belt so I can start saving money.
