I like it Jackie

Super rich colour especially against that dark background. I like where you've placed it in the frame too.

Re: Open Crocus

Striking colour which works well on the darker background I would like to see the capture with a taller crop though

Re: Open Crocus

Thank you folks, main problem is that the wind always gets up just as I release the shutter, not a big wind but enough to take the edge from the sharp finish. I was aiming for sharp stamens and a narrow dof but it has not quite come off because there was a breeze but not too displeased as that is about x3 but I want to do better so be prepared for a long series.

Re: Open Crocus

Thats a huge improvement on your previous floral pictures Snapper. I like the composition with the three leaves leading out (or down into) the flower. Lovely vibrant colours and well placed in the frame. DOF is always difficult when you are trying to blur the background but retain foreground and middle detail. What lens are you using and from what distance?

Re: Open Crocus

I am using a Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro and from a distance of about 18" to 2', think I was using the TV programme as once again I was struggling with the light and standing on my head as the said crocus are in a pot on our yard apron. Will check the exif and come back if I have lied outrageously
