Forest photos

They're both a bit dark (taken at sunset) but I thought it added to the atmosphere.

Re: Forest photos

I can appriciate on wanting to enhance the atmosphere, but underexposing these particular images/subject hasnt worked in this instance. The enviroment is too dark and muddy and for me doesnt appeal.

The composition of the 2nd image is lovley, the puddles really pull your focus through the image and the light on the trees in the background works well and is the captures saving grace i think.

Again, the lighting is nice in one and the colours are realy brought out. Im not personally fond of the foreground - its too dark and the image loses its balance. I feel the composition is slightly out, not due to the angle, but the placement of the stump. I would like to have seen it lower down in the frame, picking up more of the light ..

Re: Forest photos

Can understand what you were aiming for and it is true if you had increased the light overall you would have lost some of the effect from the light in the trees however I do think that a little more light may improve the shots in general. On thing with a forest it will not disappear so you can have another go it get the foreground a little more exposed.

Think both are well composed and it is just a matter of being able to see that little bit more of the view. With all shots that you can't set up it is a case of opportunity and compromise, this is a case when remembering to take 3 shots at different settings is a very good idea.

Re: Forest photos

Gina, its nice to see you experimenting with your photography. In doing so you will see what works and what doesnt, to see what techniques you need or could apply and where. Keep it up and dony be disheartend when things dont quite work - your coming on well
