London Candid photography

I was in London with my camera and my friends, It's all well and good photographing your friends for nostalgia, but It dawned on me how interesting people you dont know actually are.

Meer seconds will pass and you may never see them again in your life. I made an effort to capture people living, breathing and doing the same as myself. Enjoying London.

here is a few candid shots, I will post more as I post process.

Re: London Candid photography

Great shots Dan

Like you say 'seconds will pass and you may never see them again in your life'

To me, we over-use the word 'capture' in photography. I say 'me' because I lean towards landscape photography and whilst there's an ideal time of day to 'capture' the best shot it's all about knowing where to be at the right time rather than having to 'capture' a one off moment.

You've captured some great moments there. The man and his boy stands out for me.

Re: London Candid photography

Some great captures Dan - I like candids, because they are so natural.

I think my favourite is the workmen one, as their green jackets stand out nice next to the wall.

Re: London Candid photography

I like candid captures on the street or situations when there is a message or some irony or whatever in the picture. It takes a bit of nerve to be standing in the street pointing your camera at people so full marks for that. I have to be honest though, although I think the first has some potential, I don't feel any message or earthy feel about any of these. Of course they look well exposed etc. and if we take any 'still' moment, a snapshot in time our eyes explore all around the frame looking at the detail, but here I don't get any social comment, or point made. Sorry Dan.

Re: London Candid photography

Thankyou for the feedback guys, At BlackCloud this was the first time I've ever done any 'hardcore' candid shooting, I told myself I would aim to take as many pictures of random people as possible. It definitely helped me boost my confidence and I feel I could go anywhere now and do the same

Hopefully this will lead to some nice ironic shots, or some shots full of emotion. All in all, I've learned a lot from this experience and I can't wait to capture some more.

I will however be looking through some more photos and see if any stand out to me.

Thanks

Re: London Candid photography

for a first attempt Dan - good job. Don't be afraid to zoom right in, or use different angels and positions to capture specific expressions and features too. You can still tell a story without having to include the whole environment too.

Re: London Candid photography

cheers jack. I limited myself a bit as I had my fixed 50mm lens on. as I was shooting blind I needed to make sure I wasn't zoomed to much etc.
