Another deer.

After seeing Bazza's picture of the deer and Samnooshka's comments about how they stare at one, I remembered I had this image. Even though I was well hidden, he knew I was there and stood there looking for quite a while just staring.

A couple of months after I took this shot a woman was attacked in the same area by a stag. She got to close to the herd which had young ones in it and the stag attacked to protect the herd.

Re: Another deer.

When I lived in Hertfordshire we had herds of deer (Roe) all round us and the bucks were only aggressive during the rut, see there is a doe with this stag so he would have been guarding his rights and Steve was lucky to be able to take to his portrait without having to take to his heels.

Strange thing was once the doe had given birth we never saw a buck but often came across a dappled calf in the undergrowth left to it's own devices whilst the doe was off feeding.

A good shot Steve they are not the easiest creatures to see never mind get a shot of, we were always surprised how of a weekend when there were people (visitors) in the woods the deer would disappear only to be back eating my plants first thing Monday morning.
