Working out what to charge?

It's a dilemma that seems to face a lot of us. I'm in the situation where I have potential work coming my way, and to be honest. I have no idea how to charge.

I've done a previous shoot for a friend and I charged per image and nothing else. This included post processing.

can anyone offer me some advice?

Regards

Re: Working out what to charge?

Personally I would so some market research in your area. Find out what businesses in the area offer for the same services - then marky down/up accordingly.

What kind of work, portraits?

Re: Working out what to charge?

Yeah, mainly portraiture, but not in the normal term, I'm open to on location full body shoots etc.

Re: Working out what to charge?

Re: Working out what to charge?

A lot of potographers will list their 'terms' on their website - I would try to find as many as possible, then use the info to write your own, then perhaps run it by a lawyer and ask them to word it so it's legal. That way you do most of the work so it shouldn't cost so much.
