Remember some time back I said I had been asked to photograph an Infantry Battalion preparing for deployment to operational theatre?

Well I've spent last week doing just that - I have about 400 images to sort through!!!

Here are just a few of a helicopter which was used during the exercise.

It was worth it for that first pic alone! Really like the angle, and shutter speed used.

I like the feeling of movement in the last one too.

Cheers Azz - photographing helicopters brings it's own problems. There is nothing worse than a picture of a helicopter with it's blade frozen in mid flight. Too slow and the blades become a too much of a blur.

Isn't this why we love taking pictures....there is no one simple solution and we are constantly trying to evaluate the image in front of us to photograph it.

Great action shots Jack no1 and no4 for me, No1 because you have captured the helicopter moving , but the motion in the blades is spot on. No4 is a great shot because it has a timeless quality to it, turn it black and white, and it could be from another era, okay the uniform and equipment would be different, but you get the idea. Plus, I really like the light and feel in the image.
I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the shots. xx

You have done really well there! Very dramatic, the last one is superb, love the motion on his legs!

1 and 3 are brill. I like 3 with the troops running to the waiting helicopter. If I was picky a little seperation of the two figures with one a little more left. But the picture has all the feel they are to be evacuated from field.

I know nothing, but for some reason I do really like No. 3, I suppose because it looks as though they are in action so to speak? Don't know, but I like it.
