Native Girl

Here are two photos I took today.

she was very shy until I enticed her out of the shadows with my wit, charm and dashing good looks.

I hope you like them and add your comments.

You have me confused Jack, I thought you had taken the photo

I think you have done a great job of with these images. Black skin is a devil to expose for correctly especially in bright, high contrast condition.

Also I do not think that every subject of a portrait needs to be happy smiling faces and I think her rather reticent look is ideal in these images.

I like.

BUT......................... Dashing Good Looks????????

Ok Steve...you know me!! I was a little liberal about my dashing good looks

It was a challenge to expose for her skin tone - but the D300 is a great tool offering so many aids to facilitate it.

Re: Native Girl

I like them both JR but prefer #2. On the first one her cheeks and forehead have a reddish hue and it looks like something has reflected off her forehead that has caused a bright patch, did you use some fill flash? I really like #2 though, it's very well exposed and I like the composition. The only negative I have with this image is the shadow to the left of her head, not sure if your on board flash could have removed that.

Re: Native Girl

I think it's a fantastic expression - that un-trusting look that you often find in small villages in these countries

I really like the clarity in her dress too - very sharp! Not 100% on the wall tho, the white is a bit too bright here, I know you can't change it but a darker stone wall (perhaps) would have gone ace.

And you are so lucky having all these photo opps on your doorstep!

Re: Native Girl

Good, you were lucky to get her to pose, I know many places you couldn't photograph a woman. just wondering, did you show the pics afterwards?

I did some pictures of Bedouin Arabs in a settlement and they loved being able to see them on screen. Sadly a mix up with memory card meant I lost those pics a couple of years back - they were not brilliant but did show the lifestyle.

Re: Native Girl

Thanks for your kind and constructive comments- all taken onboard with gratitude.

Yes - I did show her the pictures on the screen after and also let her have a play with the camera too. She was a very happy girl.
