Oops, I did it again

No, not the plaintive cry of Tennesee,s very own perky pop princess Brtiney Spears, but the strangled cry of the old man that cant except film is dead, Ive just bought another film camera on Ebay just bought an Nikon F90 with flash gun, remote release and 14 rolls of film for £25, quite looking forward to having a play with it tbh, it must be me age you know

Re: Oops, I did it again

...it'll cost you another £50 to get the prints!

Have to be honest, they are bargain prices but I don't know what I'd get out of a film camera now. If you see the sheer quality of a medium format camera maybe, or I miss the predictability and quality of slide films like Kodachrome and Fuji 50 but not sure where I would go with it these days...

Re: Oops, I did it again

Well actually one strategy could be buy into some glass that can be moved on to a DSLR when the time is right. You could buy a decent neg/slide scanner to convert the best to digital. They easily sell at a good price secondhand.

I loved my slide film and it was so predictable I could visualise what was coming and only take maybe one or two shots as it was so expensive. Digital well damned if I know what's coming quite a lot of the time.

Yeah that was a question I was going to raise about swapping lenses from DSLR to film cameras, btw I got a good slide scanner from Epson last year, a V500, I scanned some slides and uploasded them to picture nation, I am pleased to say I became a pro photographer on the 3rd of nov last year when one of my shots sold for £50, was well made up, but trying to keep the slides, scanner, working enviroment free from dust was a real pain in all honesty

Re: Oops, I did it again

Yep, dust on slides is a real pain and the slow scanning speeds as soon as you select high dpi's and dust removal options in software. I had two or three slide scanners and to do a whole batch was a bind. However, you probably wouldn't be doing them all.

Re the lenses, well buy a Nikon D700 full frame and pretty much the whole back catalogue of Nikon lenses and compatables would fit. Many will also fit half frame cameras such as the D300 or D90 but the crop factor will mean not all would perform in the same way they would on a full frame or 35mm film camera.
