Advice on how to take agility pics please

I am starting to get somewhere, [ I think ], with the new camera, I found a loose leaf info slip which I thought was just for the software but turned out to be settings help - why on earth was`nt it all in the main manual

So now I know how and where to access the settings for aperture and speed [ and ISO ] - but still not sure which are the ideal match yet so I`m hoping for some help on that. These are what I took today, definitely much better than previous attempts with this camera, I`m getting the timing a bit better for when to press the button, and I can `feel` that what I want is very near so I hope I`m on the right track. They are far from perfect of course, the dog is a very fast lad so pretty please cut me some slack on the slightly blurry bits, I was lucky to get him in frame at all
I`m not to worried about composition at this time, it`s the clarity at speed I want to crack first so please excuse untidy backrounds and positioning - and I forgot the whole time to use the zoom so a lot of work needed on that score yet

[ BlackCloud I found on the loose sheet that apparently I can change pixel amounts if wanted so I will experiment with some 9 and lower as well as per what you kindly explained on the other thread for me ]

All tips gratefully received and thanks for looking

Re: Advice on how to take agility pics please

Glad to hear you're getting to grips with it.

A turbo powered Jack Russell isn't the easiest subject despite knowing the route he's going to take so you've done pretty well.

He does look a speedy little thing so I think you did really well, and I think you will have it cracked in no time I really like the second from last, where he is flying

Re: Advice on how to take agility pics please

Glad to see the little devils having a good time

Can't really offer much C&C as I've never taken this type of pic, what I would say tho, is make an assessment of the location beforehand, and plonk yourself where you think you will get some nice shots - ie when the sun is on the dogs front/face, and there is a nice background and composition to the pic. Try that for next time!

Re: Advice on how to take agility pics please

Hi patch!

Agility NOT easy to capture well and a small dog too!! GREAT start Patch, you seem to be really getting the hang of it. Its always going to be more difficult with a compact, the shutter lag is a problem, but you appear to be right there in getting the dog in the shot!!!
