Re: Manc Town Centre

Very nice, I like the way , you are being drawn in to the image.I like this shot, because the wheel isn't hogging the whole picture.

Looks like you are putting your new lens to use Do you like it?

Re: Manc Town Centre

I like that Ste - was it handled or tripod? If the former I reckon a re-visit with a tripod at longer exposure might really bring out those colours, they look great as they are but you might get more 'pop' and clarity from them

Re: Manc Town Centre

It is a 5 shot hdr, there is a great variation in light with the wheel very bright and the foreground dark. I metered off the path in manual at 10mm and f/11 then onto the tripod and a 5 shot auto bracket, at iso 200.

In the hdr process in photomatix I wanted the pic to look "straight" so lowered the luminosity and the saturation and used the gamma slider and the white point to brighten the pic. In the 'shop I then used the -2 shot as a base and made the hdr a layer mask, dropped the brush opacity to 60% and painted through for the -2 sky. Also the -2 had the figures in, so painted through the layer mask for them as they added interest on the 3rd.

The lens, I'll reserve judgement on not had enough of a play yet to decide.

Re: Manc Town Centre

Thanks for that. It may not be a big deal to some people here but I was wondering why it looked so good and simply considered it a single exposure. Posting technical information and sometimes just an an account of what the pic is all about can be so helpful to those of us with more to learn... (and beginners <mischeveous grin! > )
