Thumb print on lens

I decided to take the camera out today, but while getting it ready I noticed someone has been playing with it and managed to put a dirty great thumb print on the lens.

What is the best way to remove this, is it something I can do myself?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Thumb print on lens

A lint-free cloth or a proper lens cleaning kit is what I would use.

The best thing to do is get a filter for the lesn, they only cost about a tenner and you don't have to worry about fingers or wet noses then!

Re: Thumb print on lens

It's usually nose prints I get on mine, use the same cloths I use for my spectacles to clean both my lens and the monitor, been doing it for ages and no problems at all. They are called Opticlear lens wipes

Re: Thumb print on lens

I find meths to dampen a paper kitchen towel then wipe glass does an excellent job of cleaning lenses.
