Re: D300 Price

Google 'Sonic Cameras Scam'

Then you will know why it is so cheap.

The maxim 'If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is' would be well heeded here.

Re: D300 Price

Yeah, interesting Moonie...all these so called 'sales and discounts'. The price of the D300 is in fact dearer now than a month before Christmas. The base price is coming down in a little trickle but with special codes and shopping discounts at some of the stores like Jessops and Dixons you could have had a very legal and official D300 for around £865. I think the cheapest official Uk price is around £895-900 at the mo. despite all the so called sales. I think it's a great camera but I think it's pitched a little high in the UK in comparison to other cameras and all these 'better' cameras are over-priced in terms of what they are. Almost certainly the price in the US will be the same or less in dollars that we have to endure in £ sterling.

PS. just noticed your last post...you are buying one?

Re: D300 Price

From reputable sellers like B&H in the states it is about $1,400, about £900, so I will have to shop around for a good price from a safe seller
It is a dear camera, and even in the sales , not very discounted, I will be honest I have been checking out the sales prices here, in the hope for a miracle and see one at a good price, but nothing

Yeah I am definitely buying one minds made up now

I'd rather get one in the States because of the warranty etc, but their isn't much difference in price TBH.

Suprised it is so dear there. Well Dixons/Currys etc. can be a bit dear but they are official UK stock and their website prices are often cheaper than in store. Hence I would keep an eye on their price. If you look on various websites they occasionally publish discount codes which could represent £25off for a few days. Also, if you have an Egg card they give 2.5-5% cashback with DSG group which could add up to the biggest saving on this camera. That could mean getting it around £840-£860 at the current advertised rate. Just an idea.

Re: D300 Price

LOL I can never make my mind up

To clarify before you think I am Mrs Moneybags, The Oly was was my first DSLR, I bought the Canon Film SLR second or maybe third hand off Ebay and lens for under £35 ( I dunno why, as it is a cracking camera)The little Panasonic P&S wasn't expensive, but it is good. I haven't spent that much on equipment yet.
Which is why I am dithering about what camera to buy, as I feel ready for an upgrade, but want it to last a few years

OOoo I also own two little film cameras, a Holga,(Ebay) and a Zenit(Grandad)
