Re: Under the Sea ...

Some great images there GreyHawk.

What equipment did you use? How deep were you and what settings did you use?

Looks like you had a really good time, I'm soo jealous as underwater photography is something I really want to have a go at, and it's not quite the same doing it at Southsea

Re: Under the Sea ...

Thanks everyone Underwater Photography isn't the easiest as you have other (more important) things to concentrate on (such as breathing )

No, I was seriously looking into it however the housing I want starts at £1200 simply for the body. I would then need to buy ports for the lenses (about £150 per port) and I would also need to include strobes on top of that if I wanted a decent setup as the in-camera flash isn't great when taking shots underwater. Therefore I was looking at spending over £2000 simply to take mine underwater and as much as I wanted to, I don't dive enough anymore to warrant it. I ended up hiring a camera to take out with me then also got to use the Diving Centres P&S UW camera.

Yes that is an eel I must admit the Turtle shots are my favourites, not for the technical aspect but because you don't often see them (we got dropped off by the dive boat at that site whilst the rest went on to a different site close by so we were the only ones to see the Turtle ).

Those photo's are from two different camera's. Some are from a Sea&Sea DX-1G with dual strobes and the others were from a Fuji FinePix F50 FD (we did our DUP Speciality and the Fuji's were the camera's they used for that). The depth was down to 25m and I used a variety of settings (Aperture Priority/Manual/Sea&Sea Mode/Macro Mode). I shot JPEG and RAW on the Sea&Sea but the Fuji only shot in JPEG.

We did our Rescue a few years ago in a local lake and the vis was about 1 metre. UK waters aren't really the best for UP however I would like to photograph some wrecks at some point. We don't dive as much as we would like to anymore though.
