Shipwreck Beach

I took a drive out today (New Year's Day) to clear the fog from my head!

This was taken as the light was fading at a place known locally as Shipwreck Beach - on the Akrotiri Peninsula.

Thank you -

yes, this came as near as dammit from the camera - these were taken with my Nikon D300 - under picture control menu the 300 gives you a number of picture styles; all of which are adjustable and can be user defined and stored as custom settings. For this shot I used the 'vivid' setting with active D-lighting set to high and simply increased saturation by two points and contrast by two points. I took the photo handheld in RAW (NEF) on manual settings

Exposure: 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture: f/11
Focal Length: 10 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV

the only real PP work was to crop the picture and remove a camera flare from shooting at a slight angle to the low sun.

Re: Shipwreck Beach

Lovely shot, the colours are very nice. i love the flexibility of the D300 and often use the vivid mode

Re: Shipwreck Beach

Thanks all - I'm going to get down there at dawn. The sun rises from the opposite side (obviously) to see what morning colours I can grab.

Re: Shipwreck Beach

My first impression of this shot was "it's an HDR/multi exposure blend" as the colour balance and strength seems overcooked. Maybe try the default saturation and lower the d-lighting? Also, I think I would have prefered a similar capture without the ship wreck simply because I would have no idea what it was if you had not mentioned it, it just looks out of place.

Still a good image Jack looking forward to more from your d300.
