photos supplied on cd.

What is the going rate for photos supplied on cd?

I have done this for one wedding and a couple of portraits.

But wondered what the going rate was?

For the wedding I charged just the package rate. [I am never going to put wedding pics on disc again though, but thats another story]
and of course it didnt cost me as much as no album and prints ect.

for the portraits it was £10 per image, as well as the sitting fee.

Too cheap or?

Re: photos supplied on cd.

So do the clients have the copyright to the pics, and can print them at their leisure as many times as they want? Do you lose money this way?

I know I have done it twice , but that was for free practise portrait sessions.
I would have no idea how to price it on a disc, as they could buy the disc and then keep printing the pics . So you need to price it, so it is worth your while I suppose, as you are going to lose out on the prints and reorders.

am interested too what others say

Re: photos supplied on cd.

I would never put the originals on a disc and would never sell copyright!

The only time i have put images on CD was for a wedding that the client didn't have access to a computer to see the gallery... but they were all very low res... and watermarked.

Re: photos supplied on cd.

Slightly digressing, but made some prints at lunchtime today using ASDA's facility whereby you take in a memory card or some media. First thing I noticed was a copyright notice warning people not to print professional photographs (that counts me out anyway!) etc. Just thought I'd mention it being as discussion is about electronic images and watermarking etc.

Incidentally the service was good, around 38 minutes (1 hr service), cheap and pretty accurate to what I saw on screen with colour. However pictures do lack that certain something that I have seen on prints done at better labs.

Re: photos supplied on cd.

The client does not have copyright to the pics that stays with the photographer and yes there is potential to lose money on reprints.

As I said above I have done one wedding on cd with high res photos and it was nothing but trouble.

so I would only sell the disc for portraits just wondering what others would charge per image.

Re: photos supplied on cd.

I suppose it depends how much you charge normally per print Jo?

My Mum uses her local Asda to get her prints done too, they aren't too bad she is happy with them anyway
