Nikon P50 from Asda

So I bought a Nikon (lol) and it was the P50 from Asda for £75. I wanted a small camera that could sit in the car or in my laptop bag just for convenience.

It's really easy to use and I love the fact it focusses down to around an inch

So, here are some sample images (resized to 800x600 for speed)

First the Nikon itself.

A Sunrise.

Shower Head

Train Tracks

Bar Reflection

Fallen branch

Tree Bark

Tap.

Re: Nikon P50 from Asda

Thanks for the comments all, I am glad you like them.

For £75 it's a good little camera, I can't say it's the best as I don't really follow the P&S market.

Suzi, it should be okay for a 10 year old, you can use it in complete auto mode, or chose to have some manual control. Also, you can turn things on and off like Flash/Macro mode really quickly.

It is a bit of a battery eater, so some rechargables in the 10 year old's Xmas stocking might be an idea

Re: Nikon P50 from Asda

Wish I had a camera like that when I was 10 Moonie! I'd say it's ideal as it's very compact - only thing is it takes normal AA batteries?

Edit: we were posting at the same time WW

Re: Nikon P50 from Asda

That's okay Azz

I am not a fan of proprietary batteries anyway, great thing about AAs is that you can always buy a pack when you are out, if your odd looking rechargeable goes flat, ur day is over

Re: Nikon P50 from Asda

The AA batteries is not so good, but I do have rechargables anyway So not a major issue.

No sorry, but looking at the link of the camera you posted reminded me of why I bought the Nikkon (and I think this is important for teaching photography to new people).

I bought the Nikon because it has a viewfinder, unlike 95% of P&S now that force you to use the screen, holding the camera at arms length (very bad photography technique, don't you think?)
