Got myself a new camera
A Canon EOS 500N SLR.
It came with a 28-80mm zoom lense and a manual to make things a bit easier.
£39 off ebay and I'm very proud of my new purchase. 
Now just have to get some film and try and figure it all out!

I have that camera - and the same lens (lens shown below) which I still use sometimes on my DSLR

How exciting, it is like Christmas come early isn't it. Enjoy getting to know your camera I have had mine since last Friday and have not really used it or read the handbook yet somehow got sidetracked into playing in PS

Is it a good camera Phil? A friend has one which is why I searched for one specifically, but otherwise don't know all that much about them!

Oh have fun, I bought a Canon SLR, and I love using , most of my efforts have gone straight in the bin so far, but they are getting better, almost finished another roll. Have fun xxx

Why did you go for a film camera against a digital one? just out of interest.
As MS stated quote "most of my efforts have gone straight in the bin " unquote. which is exactly the reason why I cannot understand taking a backward photographic step

I'm hoping to get a DSLR next year, but for the moment I got a film camera for a number of reasons. To start with, they're cheaper! Also, I'm hoping to start a film course at some point, so need a film camera for that. Aaand I liked the thought of a new challenge, which will hopefully make me a better photographer and improve my skills with my future DSLR. Oh and I just love photos taken with film, the quality and colours are always so brilliant.
