Wedding fairs

Has anybody ever been to a wedding fair?

I have been asked to exhibit at one in January and I have no idea what to expect for my money.

A lady who I have become friendly with whos does wedding flowers told me she does two a year and gets all her work from them.

Did anybody on here book anything from a wedding fair or have you ever attended one?

Any info greatly received before I part with my hard earned cash.

Re: Wedding fairs

I have been to one, I was dragged to one with a friend. It was very busy , loads of over excited brides to be as you would expect,I do remember lots of Togs and florists, designers etc.The stands all seemed very busy too.

If you are sure you want to do more weddings, go for it. What have you got to lose But I would say make sure you have plenty of business cards and info, also really good prints to display. I suppose now is the time you have to think of an image, and a business look, so the cards, website, everything looks professional. I read that a bride usually decides on the photographer, and most brides will make up their mind about your suitability from the home page of your website, so if it doesn't grab them, then forget it.

Re: Wedding fairs

Silly sod, you had me worried I had offended you

But, I do think image is important Jo, so if you are going to do it, you have got to make everything look as pulled together as possible, and market it towards brides If you are working with a florist, might be good to find a good local make up artist too, so maybe you can up with some sort of package deal? Also you can recommend each other to prospective clients.

Re: Wedding fairs

I agree the pictures are the most important thing, but how you present them can make all the difference too.
If you are lucky you'll do the whole wedding thing once, and you want it to be the most fantastic day, so you will go with the best that you can afford,...... there are two photographers who have the same style, same price, but, one has a great stylish website, matching business cards etc, very professional. The other hasn't. Which as a bride are you going to go for? I am not saying it is right, but to me that is how it works, it is down to image, as that is what you are selling.

Does that make sense?

As for being too nice I am downright evil really xxxx

Re: Wedding fairs

I went to one today, came away with far too many ideas my head is spinning!!!

Some photographers had photobooks, albums canvasses to look at, some had DVD montages running on a flat screen tv(set to music).
There were so many there and it was very busy.
we got Good Quality picture postcards from one of the Photographers. great idea it will give an idea of the finished product and you can look at it later, I came away with armfulls of Brochures so you need something eyecatching that will stand out from the rest.

Re: Wedding fairs

Thanks for the input folks.

I think I might attend the wedding fair with the flower lady and help her and at the same time get a feel for whats going on. T hen I can decide if I want to do the next one.
