Some more Griffon Vulture shots

Here's a few more pictures of the Vulture today.

Most turned out blurred but I got a few.

I was lucky becasue they guy stood right behind me and called the bird in low and slow just so I could take pics. Problem was, I had a 300mm lens on the camera and the bird has a 9 foot wingspan. It was coming so close that it was hitting me with it's wings as it passed - too close to focus and too big to get it into the frame.

Here's some of the still ones and more distant flying ones that came out OK.

I'll be back on brighter day with a shorter lens I think for close 'fly-by' ones.

Re: Some more Griffon Vulture shots

Phil you did really well considering catching birds in flight is incredibly difficult.

Re: Some more Griffon Vulture shots

No 4 is fantastic and unusual shot, the series is good Phil but does not make me like the bird anymore, they really do look down right evil.

Re: Some more Griffon Vulture shots

Thanks guys.

that's a good clip Bazza.

There's also a nice big section all about camera settings & techniques for photographing birds 'on the wing' in the current practical photography magazine. I read it and thought - doh, I could have done this or that.
