Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Pic 2 is quite nice, but it's so difficult to get a balanced contrast with water subjects due to reflections on the water.

Slightly blurry on #1 but its a good pic # 3 is slightly over exposed. I like #2, its like you peeking through into a secret place

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

Thanks. Yeah I really wanted the ducks to turn out well but hands too shaky (maybe too much wine the night before!!! ) did think if I had a tripod I might have been able to get better shot. But this whole photography thing new to me...would that help?

Is there anything I can do about over exposure? I really just about know how to point my camera and push the button, oh and setthe self timer lol

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

A tripod is mostly needed when your using a slower shutter speed (ie landscape / night photography)

In the case of your first pic, it could have helped, as it seems to be camera shake, however you could also capture "ghosts" (aka the blur from the ducks movement). To solve the problem, you most likely needed a faster shutter speed

This was sharpend in PS using your JPEG.

If ou shot it in RAW i can take it over to lightroom for you and do a better fix

Re: few pics ducks and waterfalls!!

thanks. Not sure if i can adjust the speed? Never really thought about any of that till this site was suggested and I realised I quite like photos!! Will dig out manual and have a look but in the grand scheme of cameras mine is very bog standard But if I can learn some things and get decent results maybe Santa would bring me a good camera (must let my OH read this!!! )

You can always take a beanbag out with you to rest the cam on - it will also help with camera shake and they are not shuch a pain to carry around!

When you shoot a pic the information is compressed and merged to create a JPEG file. Another option is to shoot RAW. This doesnt compress or merge the information, it stores it all into a bigger file, allowing you much more scope for post processing. You can change the option on your camera if its available to you.
